Taking only a little additional time creating your grill location after the winter months can lead to a better, and more triumphant grilling season. Follow these tips and ideas, and you'll be on the path of becoming the neighborhood grill expert:

1. The most significant tip! Plan "Grill Set Up Day" for when your wife won't be home. Be warned: Once you open the garage door, "BBQ Set Up Day" can easily develop into "We Should Reorganize The Garage Day," and after that "Let's Scrub All the Outside Furniture Day" if you're not careful.

2. Protect the Patio. If the barbecue grill is going on a concrete patio, especially a brand new one, you'll want to purchase a fresh pad you can put beneath the grill. It's going to catch any sort of fat or grease that may usually seep into the concrete. "Wash the Concrete Day" should be prevented at all costs.

3. Padding For Your Spine. One of several cool inventions they recently announced are these shock absorbing chef mats you'll be able to place in front of your barbecue grill. 5. Keep the Grill Clean. It's likely that, bugs and various other creepy crawlers have used your grill as a winter apartment. It is best if you start the season with a washing. 6. Try Foil. Line the inside of your BBQ with heavy-duty aluminum foil. This is an optional move, but I discovered it is possible to pull extra heat from a barbecue grill that is lined with heavy-duty aluminum foil. You might get a couple of uses from it, but it undoubtedly saves you from the "take apart, wash, and rinse" process.

7. Cast Iron Grills. If you do not have cast iron grills, start the season off with an early Father's Day present. Be sure to take your existing grills to the store to get the right size. Little else works more effectively regarding grill marks, and when you season them, you never have to scrub them clean.

8. Fat Catch. Exchange the grease cup using an old pop can. Simply cut away the top of the can and force it in the holder. It's easier to throw it away a can than trying to clean the catch.

9. Fresh Herbs. I set my BBQ up in the ideal location to cultivate fresh herbs. Think just how trendy you will look when you select a handful of fresh parsley or cilantro from your little herb garden, and spread it on your planked salmon. Yummy! But that is an article for another time.

10. Purchase a Backup Tank. Consider getting a secondary gas tank. There is nothing worse than running out of propane on a Sunday afternoon, and having to drive down to your neighborhood filling location to obtain more. I have always found the lines to be fairly lengthy since it occurs to a lot of guys.
