Which Baby Monitor Should You Buy?

By Sophia Anderson

Finding a good baby monitor for your home is like finding any other type of baby-related product.

It won't take much time before you're stressed and overwhelmed. Of course you want to monitor your baby when you're not in the room, and you don't know which product is the best for your situation. You're having difficulty knowing what to pay. You're inside a store and see so many different kinds of monitors with different features. It's easy for you to start feeling a bit frustrated and a little overwhelmed - but do not worry about it! This article will help you find the monitoring system that is perfect for you, your family, and your home.

What size monitor should you get? If you don't have that much space in your home, you may want to consider something which will be the least obtrusive. You may have room for a rather large machine, and might even not mind if it takes up a lot of space, as long as it transmits sounds or does what you want it to. Portable monitors may have to be carried around, and can easily be left on the counter somewhere or in another room and forgotten about, so you should also consider how you will be using the monitor in the first place. That is why it's important to assess these kinds of things, because you need to find a device which will work with your type of lifestyle and habits. Consider as well, that if you are only going to be using the monitor in one room, then something larger is perfectly acceptable, however if you are planning on moving around a lot, you will want something which is definitely light weight.

Choose your frequency carefully. Many inexpensive baby monitors will operate at a 49MHz frequency. That frequency will have a fair amount of intereference in it, so that's no doubt why they're so cheap. One unusual aspect of these cheaper monitors is they pick up unwanted radio frequency signals such as cell phones and even neighboring baby monitors. But higher frequency monitors don't have those problems, plus they're easier to operate. The best frequency for a system is 2.4GHz, which offers the best sound available.

Did you know that other devices in your home can interfere with your baby monitor? Do you have cordless phones...do you have cell phones...Radios, because you will want to choose a baby monitor that operates on a different frequency than the other devices in your home. Therefore you should always find a baby monitor which has a wide range of frequencies.

Taking the time to consider the size, functions, and toher aspects of your system will ensure that you end up finding the right system for you and your family. Also, you should consider the warranty and lifetime expectancy of your system as well, so that you can get the most out of it, especially if you are planning on having more children in the future. Remember that the type of monitor you will need depends on your whole family, and once you know what you want, all you need to do after this is find the right monitor which can do what you need it to do, and you'll finally be set!
