Simple and Easy Room Embellishing Projects for Youngsters

By Autumn Lockwood

It can be very satisfying to decorate your youngster's room. However, it is important to keep in mind that a lot of children really take pleasure in participating in the furnishing process. By involving your child in the decorating selections, they will have more possession of the room. Often times this translates into more rigorous efforts on his or her part to keep their bedrooms neat and tidy. It makes sense that if they contributed to creating the room, it will be natural for him or her to feel more in charge of keeping everything neat. Here are a few room embellishing projects that are easy enough for children to help with.

One of a kind Masterpieces

In all likelihood, your child has been the creator of many works of art over time. Children's art endeavors from school wind up hidden away in drawers and boxes far too often. Rather than storing them away, bring them out and use them as a part of your child's room decor. Simply place a few creations in 8x10 picture frames, and display on the wall. It will make your little one proud to survey their art so beautifully displayed. You can work with paintings, drawings, sketches or nearly anything else that looks nice in the room. Swap the fine art out occasionally so that you are able to display some fresh creations.

Handprint Art

Even the littlest youngster can help create handprint art. All you'll need is a number of colors of acrylic craft or maybe wall paint, a few flat disposable aluminum dishes, and a wall or piece of paper. Before starting, protect the table, floor or work space with a plastic drop cloth. And then distribute a layer of paint in the disposable pans, putting a different color in each one. Help your little one place the palm of his or her hand directly into a dish of paint, and then use that hand to create a print right on a wall. To add a sweet and attractive touch to the space, have your child create a handprint border around all the wall surfaces at chair rail level. All you have to do is find a pencil and a measuring stick to mark on the wall at the level you desire, and draw a faint line of pencil completely around the room. Then all your child has left to do is create painted handprints all along the line with one color or maybe even more. Another option would be to simply have your child make handprints on pieces of paper, then place their creations in picture frames on the walls. This is a great way to bring art projects and fun room designs together.

Coloring Book Artwork

Mere coloring book pages may also be used to create eye-catching artwork for your child's room. Select a themed coloring book that will match the overall style of the bedroom. Then, provide to your child the book and a big box of crayons. They will have a wonderful time coloring images that can then double as wall art. Just display a few of their works of art in picture frames on the wall. Not only will their room look fantastic, but your youngster will also feel the pleasure of knowing that they helped with furnishing the room. Once you have a couple pages framed, you may continue to update them every once in a while with new colored in pages, to keep the whole look fresh.

These entertaining yet simple activities will be great fun for your children. Your children will be able to practice their artistic skills and have fun helping you get the job accomplished.
