Bars and drinking are a part of people's lifestyle and habits for fun, and they go to bars that show a great atmosphere for relaxing. That's why those in the business, like bar managers and bartenders, can breathe easily. If you are curious about what bar managers and bartenders make, read on for the numbers.

Tasks of bartenders include mixing drinks and serving them to guests. Whether alcoholic or non-alcoholic, the drinks that are commonly asked for should be part of a bartender's arsenal of knowledge. Flexibility in creating drinks that customers request not on the menu is also a plus. Bartenders also take care of bar inventory of the alcohol, utilities and equipment. Relating with customers and keeping the crowd satisfied is also necessary. Bartender jobs require no more than a high school education for academic background, plus a few years of being on the field.

Of course, bartender income thrives thanks to generous tips from customers. The basic wage is low, starting at $5 up to $8 per hour. If a bartender gets tips, the total is usually twice up to four times his basic salary. For a bartender with a wage of $7/hr., tips can come as low as $14 to as high as $28 every hour. Earnings would total then to $21 up to $35 per hour. For a regular bar, the average earning for a bartender is $15-30 hourly. Bartenders need to file their tips as part of income as well, as mandated by law. Salary range for a year is $14000-$25000.

Bar managers handle the operations of the bar, from hiring, managing time tables, marketing and planning, finances, and so on. Managers must always assure customer satisfaction and that the bar runs efficiently and without a glitch. Familiarity with laws, whether local or federal, that relate to alcohol business is necessary. Communication skills and sociability, as well as being presentable, are also on the list of musts. Most establishments appreciate the additional experience in the food and beverage industry, and experience in managing a team or establishment is a bonus. A high school diploma is usually the minimum required, as per the guidelines of an establishment.

The annual average salary of a bar manager can be as low as $18000 up to $52000. Managers get bonuses and these can be between $200 and $10000. Profit-sharing schemes can add $100-13000 to a manager's income while commissions from sales can go from $1000 to $16000. Bar managers can get as much as $20000 to $54000 every year.
