How To Make The Most Of Vinyl Banner Printing

By Joseph Taylor

It is a last minute move that's been forced upon you and one you're none too happy about. In less than two weeks you are going to be forced to relocate about five blocks away. It's arguably a better location and the type of move you were probably going to be seriously considering in a year's time, but that doesn't change the fact that many of your customers will only find out about it when they next show up at the door.

Had you known you'd have, of course, been telling customers for the past three months. Thankfully you have a decent amount of word-of-mouth business and a fairly healthy facebook page. As a concession from your current landlord (in an attempt to avoid possible legal action) he has agreed to let you hang a large vinyl banner from the side of the building for six weeks - a vinyl banner for which he will foot the bill.

As time is of the essence, you went online looking for a good banner printing service and almost immediately found a number of very promising looking online banner printing websites. It looks as though this is going to be easier than you thought. Now you need to make the most of opportunity; here are a few things to keep in mind.

## Select the proper typeface

If this is the first time you've had vinyl banner printing done you should know that typeface is an important consideration. Your banner needs to be taken in at a glance. That means that the font or typeface you use must be incredibly legible. Avoid using complicated script fonts, or fonts that are too thin, or too gimmicky. A simple bold font, preferably in block capitals, is probably going to be your best choice. Resist the urge to match the font of the banner to the font used for your store name on your sign unless that font is incredibly legible.

## Keep it brief

It doesn't matter that you are ordering a gigantic banner on your current landlord's dime. Keep the message as brief and to the point as possible. Again, you want passersby to be able to take in the message at a glance. If you have a good logo make use of it but keep the text to the absolute essential data.

## Select bold colors

You want your banner to really 'pop' against the wall from which it's hung, and you also want the words to 'pop' against the background of the banner itself. The font color and background color should present a strong contrast while being easy to read. A dark text against a light background is more legible than the reverse.

## Think about hardware

Whenever you are ordering vinyl banner printing, you always have to be aware of how and where the final product is going to be displayed. If your banner is going to be hung on the outside wall of a building it is going to require metal grommets on all four corners to accommodate the ropes and cords needed to secure it. If it is a large banner you might also want to consider a few wind silts to prevent an errant wind from tearing it down

Vinyl banner printing generally is a highly reliable means of communication when properly executed. Bold colorful vinyl banners are compelling and persuasive and, if well placed, produce a tremendous impact. With due consideration of your choices there is no reason why you can't end up with an effective vinyl banner produced and displayed in no time.
