Prevent German Shepherd Biting Conduct

By Chris Miller

One of the reasons why law enforcers and military personnel can do their jobs properly is the skilled German Shepherds that help them discover what they need to find. They are also considered good pets for families with young children. German Shepherds are inherently aggressive but this characteristic can be corrected. The truth is that German Shepherds are loving creatures with a reputation of being aggressive.

If these canines are really loving, why are they known for biting behavior? Trained German Shepherds will bite on command, but untaught ones may bite indiscriminately under specific situation! When provoked by the situation, biting behavior may occur. There are several reasons for this:

Bad handling by the owner: A German shepherd pup not skilled to understand that biting is harmful for its owners would have the bad habit of biting.

Territorial aggression: German shepherds are known for their loyalty and defensive nature.

Supremacy: A German Shepherd is a natural boss, and will wrangle you for this position if you show weak points. In the first place, make sure you dissuade this behavior. You must act like the master for your dog to follow you. When you're around your dog, be firm but loving.

Panic or timidity: German Shepherds or most canines will start biting if they fear something. Very shy canines often react in this way because of lack of social interaction. Poor upbringing may be the main reason for timidity in a German Shepherd.

It's harder to train older German Shepherds with the habit of biting. This is why it so significant that if you have a pup, you stop him or her from biting instantly if he or she shows sign of it. This breed has an inbuilt characteristic to be obedient and to respond to authority. Even an adult German Shepherd can be trained if the owner is dedicated. Biting indiscriminately is never a great thing, and your dog will realize this when the schooling is good.

How are you able to stop biting conduct?

A puppy can be a joy to have around. If only he would not playfully bite anything and everything, including you! If you have any intent of making your pet stop then you need to understand the canine psychology or in this instance "pup psychology" behind it.

Biting might be a way to satisfy his curious mindset. He uses his mouth to explore. Biting may also be a source of enjoyment for them. When born in a litter, a puppy might bite its litter mates and mother during play sessions. His litter mates may exhibit bite inhibition behavior to control this habit.

Totally pay no heed to your pup if it bites you.

When your puppy bites you, scream in a high-pitched tone of voice and turn away from your pet as if you don't need to see him. Your puppy will show a display of remorse and will not bite you again until he forgets about the unpleasant incident. Be consistent and the biting behavior will go away eventually.

Don't play games like tug of war since your dog will pull at you, with his teeth.

Do not give the idea that you think biting is ok.

If your pup insists on playing a game concerning nipping, flip him over and growl softly to discipline him. In a litter, the mother German shepherd growls at the baby or grabs him/her by the scruff to scold the puppy You really need to hold your pet in this position till it relaxes and gives in to your influence.

In the end, we wish to highlight that under no conditions, it's acceptable to make use of anger or hostility against your pet. You can find no bad pets, only bad owners!
