Gorgeous Areas That Can Be Seen In Central London

By John Winter

Some travelers enjoy staying in expensive, luxurious hotels like the one where Miss Marple stayed on her dream vacation. Bertram's Hotel had beautifully appointed rooms and flawless service. It also had sinister plots being carried out behind the scenes.Evidently elderly spinster detectives enjoy that sort of thing. But for people who have no intention of spending their vacation time indoors and would be just as happy with a cheap hotel London has exactly what you want.

The Capital of the UK isn't the cheapest city in the world. Unless you are an elderly spinster who really cares about the perfect poached egg you would probably rather be spending money on things other than your lodgings. If you are only going to be using your london kings cross hotel as a place to sleep and shower there is no sense in investing a lot of money in it.

If you are planning to stay in Central London, it is probably because there is so much to see and do there. It's an important business and financial district but it also has many beautiful parks and gardens. Many layers of history mingle with modern shops and office complexes.

One has only to walk through the central city to come face-to-face with street names and landmarks that have been made famous in books, films, songs and poems. Look for names like Fleet Street, historic home of the British press and the murderous barber, Sweeney Todd. Harley Street continues to be the preferred address of members of the medical profession. Baker Street was made famous as the dwelling place of the famous fictional detective Sherlock Holmes.

The British Museum, the National Gallery, the Tate Gallery and the Victoria and Albert Museum are world famous. One of the most historic and fabled locations is the infamous Tower of London. Once a prison, now the Tower is an impressive museum with exhibits that include the legendary Crown Jewels.

But the big, famous museums and galleries are just the beginning. A brisk walk from the British Museum is the Cartoon Museum. There the comic-art enthusiast will find examples of British cartoon art from the 18th century to the present. Sherlock Holmes fans can enjoy the Sherlock Holmes Museum located at, where else but, 221B Baker Street.

Madame Tussauds legendary Wax Museum is still located on Marleybone Road where it has been since 1884. It's a short walk from the Baker Street tube station. The exhibits have changed over the years but visitors still enjoy posing next to their favorite celebrities past and present.

But there is more to this vibrant city than museums and galleries. The Soho district is home to some of the most famous and infamous nightspots. Prince Harry has reputedly been seen at some of the livelier clubs and bars. Visitors to London who enjoy shopping, exploring parks gardens and museums by day, and clubs, concerts and theatre by night won't be spending a lot of time in their hotel rooms.

There are reasonably priced lodgings near all of the central city tube stations and near all of the attractions. An online search can direct you to reviews by experienced travelers. Look for places that are clean and unpretentious. When you enquire about rates ask about discounts. Often unadvertised bargains are available for the asking. For anyone who likes fun-filled days and nights and cheap hotels London is made to order.
