The Apple IPad 2 Comes With Pluses And Minuses

By Erwin Bauer

Consumers today are becoming more and more enamored with tablet computers. The increasing popularity may be due to their size, and the ease with which you can take them anywhere. It does appear that tablet computing is taking over a fair bit of the computer market, and laptops may be on the decline. It appears that a lot of consumers are particularly interested in the iPad 2. Before making the final selection of a tablet, it is important to understand the advantages and drawbacks of the iPad 2.

The Pros

There is a good reason why the iPad 2 is considered by many to be the gold standard among tablets. It has many positive features to its credit. One of its biggest selling points is that it is so easy to use. Anyone can pick up an iPad 2 and intuitively understand how to make it work in just a short time. Even the apps that are preloaded are easy to understand. This tablet has a screen that is just a bit bigger than most tablets that are available, so even those who have poor eye sight can read this device.

Of course, the iPad 2 also benefits from Apple's support. No tablet has better access to applications, movies, or music than the iPad 2, and the screen size makes for great viewing. The device also has a relatively long battery life, which makes it perfect for actually sitting down to watch a film or spending time listening to music.

The Cons

Unfortunately, the iPad 2 does have some serious drawbacks, the first of which is that it is prohibitively expensive for what it can do. Although it is very good from the technical aspect, it does not really have many functions that work outside the Apple designated zones. For example, there is no USB port, and you can not do any expansion. This means you should buy the device that has the most memory as you will not be able to increase it in the future. Using the iPad 2 3G feature means that you need to sign up first for an expensive plan.

The biggest problem with the iPad 2 is that you have to rely so much on Apple technology. The Flash support is lacking, so it will cripple any web browsing you might want to do. This will not be as much of a problem for the iPhone, but it will be very annoying to anyone who wants a tablet that will replace their laptop.

The iPad 2 model has specific positive and negative features, and personal preference concerning these will vary from customer to customer. The iPad 2 is an ideal choice for those shopping for an easy to use tablet computer, but may not be the perfect option for someone who needs something that can be upgraded or is capable of functioning at a higher level. Ultimately, it definitely offers stiff competition when compared to other tablets in the same price range. Each individual must decide if the device is right for his or her personal needs.
